Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)

Eligible families can access up to $1,095 in basic dental services over two years, bulk-billed with no out-of-pocket costs.

What is the CDBS?

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a wonderful Australian Government initiative that provides eligible families with up to $1,095 in basic dental services over two consecutive calendar years. It is designed to ensure that children have access to essential dental care without the worry of unexpected costs, helping them maintain a bright and healthy smile from a young age.

At Kingaroy Family Dental Care, we are proud to offer bulk-billed treatments for all services covered by the CDBS. This means there is often no out-of-pocket expense for standard check-ups, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, and extractions. Our friendly team is dedicated to making every visit a positive experience for your little ones, focusing on gentle care and prevention in a warm, welcoming environment.

Common Questions

Is my child eligible for the CDBS?

Children aged 0–17 are eligible if they are eligible for Medicare and their family receives a qualifying Australian Government payment, such as Family Tax Benefit Part A. We can help you check your child's eligibility quickly—just give us a call with your Medicare card handy.

What dental services are covered under the scheme?

The CDBS covers a wide range of essential services, including check-ups, X-rays, professional cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals, and extractions. It generally doesn't cover orthodontic or cosmetic dental work.

Will I have to pay anything out of pocket?

At Kingaroy Family Dental Care, we bulk-bill all eligible CDBS treatments. This means if your child is eligible and has remaining benefits, there are no out-of-pocket costs or gap payments for covered services up to the benefit limit.

How much is the CDBS benefit worth?

The benefit provides up to $1,095 (capped over a two-calendar-year period) per child. If you don't use the full amount in the first year, it carries over to the second year as long as your child remains eligible.

How do I check my remaining balance?

You can check your balance through your Medicare online account at myGov, or by calling the Medicare general enquiries line. Alternatively, our friendly reception team can check the remaining balance for you during your visit.
